Reservation of the United States with respect to the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States

26 December 1933

    A reservation by the United States was directly attached to the Montevideo Convention signed 26 December 1933; Senate advice and consent to ratification was given, with a reservation, on 15 June 1934; The Convention was ratified by the President of the United States, with a reservation, on 29 June 1934; Ratification of the United States deposited with the Pan American Union 13 July 1934; The Convention entered into force on 26 December 1934; and was proclaimed by the President of the United States 18 January 1935; Article 8 was reaffirmed by protocol of 23 December 23 1936.
    Peru and Brazil also issued a reservation that was attached to the Convention.
